What information is collected?

Stratagem, a member of the Public Affairs Board of the PRCA, collects basic contact information for people with whom we engage and/or do business. Details include publicly owned and publicly available contact information for civil servants and elected representatives. This information is collected from the individuals themselves, as well as from the public record, in the course of doing business.

For how long is the information held?

Once collected, Stratagem holds this information, securely, for no longer than necessary, in line with General Data Protection Regulation.

Is the information shared?

Stratagem does not sell, rent, loan, trade or lease the information to any third party for the purposes of marketing or selling goods and services.

Data protection is a high priority for us. We collect and process information about politics, public policy and decision-makers. We do so in accordance with our legitimate interest in providing services which help organisations, politicians and the public sector work together.

These services aid the interests of organisations who wish to share information about those they represent with politicians and key influencers. These organisations aim to inform others about what is happening in the sectors they cover. This is known as public affairs; it is a well-established practice.

Please note that, as with others in our sector, Stratagem's services include stakeholder management, mapping and advice, along with the provision, in certain cases, of selected contacts, for the purpose of engagement, as part of such activities.

How does this affect the individuals concerned?

Stratagem will send its free monthly e-newsletter featuring political analysis and insights, as well as occasional updates on services and engagement opportunities, to those who have consented to receiving these communications and those who are, or have been, part of a contractual relationship with Stratagem. Stratagem retains a legitimate interest in communicating with current and past clients and partners for the purpose of doing business.

Individuals are entitled to have their data recorded accurately and to have it erased. They may request from Stratagem the information that we hold on them. Please contact us to seek these details.

Information collected for mailing lists

Stratagem maintains a specific mailing list of those individuals who have actively subscribed, via our website, to the monthly e-newsletter featuring political insights and analysis. The mailing only notes the subscriber’s email address and is used to transmit the e-newsletter. It is not sold, rented, loaned, traded or leased to any third party.

We use a third party provider, Campaign Monitor, to deliver our e-newsletter and other updates. The platform provides statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies. This function allows us to monitor and improve our e-newsletter. Campaign Monitor’s privacy policy is available here.

The information which you supply us it treated with the highest level of confidentiality and complies with the General Data Protection Regulation. We will only keep the minimum amount of personal information on our system that we need in order to perform our duty. Please be aware that if we are requested by the police or government authority investigating suspected illegal activities to provide personal information then we will do so.
