Client Profile and Issue
In discussions with Pfizer Ltd and Democratic Dialogue, a project was devised to help advance the public health agenda in Northern Ireland. The challenge was to devise an approach that went beyond the normal conference and lengthy report that no-one would notice.
Our Strategy
Democratic Dialogue and Stratagem jointly designed and hosted four interactive round tables engaging key Northern Ireland players and drawing on the expertise of European and national experts. The round tables were dynamic and illuminating, leading to the conclusion that the analysis and findings should not just be published in an accessible report format but should also be animated across a wider audience. The report "A Picture of Health - Tackling health inequalities in Northern Ireland" by Stratagem's Quintin Oliver and Democratic Dialogue's Robin Wilson was launched by Health Committee Chair, Iris Robinson MP MLA and discussed in small group format with the original round table participants and a wider tier of interested stakeholders.
Outcome
The public health agenda was immeasurably strengthened with key concepts of the project demonstrably incorporated into political party manifestos and the Programme for Government.
