Stop 'consulting' people and try listening to them instead

We have consultations on everything from driver licensing to drinks promotions. We need to consult less and listen more, says Quintin Oliver.
It was Mark Durkan MLA who coined the term "consultation fatigue" as far back as 2000 in an Assembly debate on how to engage the public in government policy decisions.
It inspired me to help set up a professional association across the UK and Ireland, with more than 250 public bodies in membership, The Consultation Institute.
